Dhokla a popular tea-time snack.
Mostly enjoyed as an appetizer.
Use Instant quick ready made batter of Idli / Dosa
Ings:-
300 gms batter of Idli / Dosa, 1\2 tsp Soda bi carb with few drops of lime juice,
1\4 tsp Turmeric pd,
1\4 tsp red Chilly pd
Salt to taste,
For the Tempering..
3 tbsp Oil ,
2 tsp Mustard seed,
few Curry leaves,
Coriander leaves for garnish
Steamer & greased Dhokla plates.
METHOD:
In the batter mix salt, turmeric powder, soda bi carb with few drops of lime juice, also add 1tsp oil. Put Steamer with water to heat, grease the plates and pour the batter in two plates and sprinkle red chilly powder. Now put to steam for 10 minutes at least.
Keep a tempering ready of oil, mustard seeds, curry leaves, take it off the heat. Spread this on the steamed dhokla and garnish with coriander leaves.
Cut into desired pieces and serve with chutneys of your choice.
Recipes for dhokla can vary by household and region. Instead of chickpeas, different types of lentils could be used. It is yellow in color and salty in taste.
It is made with a fermented batter of gram flour (chickpeas).
Dhokla can be eaten for breakfast, as a main course, as a side dish or as a snack.
