Sizzler is food served sizzling on a thick cast iron dish with a wooden base.

So the plate is heated to a very high temperature then cooked food is put on it, and hot oil or butter is poured on the inner sides of the plate to create the sizzling sound it makes which has given this dish the name "sizzler".
