A pitaya is the fruit of several cactus species.
These fruits are commonly known as "dragon fruit".
Pitaya Fruit, Pitahaya Fruit or also commonly known as the Dragon fruit is among the most nutritious and wonderful exotic fruits.
To prepare a pitaya for consumption, the fruit is cut open to expose the flesh. The fruit's texture is sometimes like that of the kiwifruit because of its black, crunchy seeds. The flesh, which is eaten raw, is mildly sweet and low in calories.
The seeds are eaten together with the flesh, have a nutty taste and are rich in lipids, but they are indigestible unless chewed. The fruit is also converted into juice or wine, or used to flavor other beverages. The flowers can be eaten
or steeped as tea.
One can eat dragon fruit as a desert, raw, or you can make its juice, or use in cocktails n also make ice creams.
Pitahaya fruits are highly concentrated with Vitamin C, minerals and boasts of high fiber content.
