Culinary use of the term "herb" means the herbs,
from the leafy green parts of a plant
(either fresh or dried), and spices, from other parts
of the plant (usually dried), including seeds, berries,
bark, root and fruit....
A herb is a plant that is valued for flavor, scent,
medicinal or other qualities.
Herbs are used in cooking, as medicines, and for
spiritual purposes...
Use herbs and spices by grinding the whole spices
in a grinder or mortar or pestle just prior to using.
Roasting the spices in a pan over medium heat
before grinding will bring out more flavor.
