Malfatti is a type of gnocchi . . .

Malfatti is a type of gnocchi . . .
Did u know what a Malfatti (spinach and ricotta gnocchi) means?
Malfatti are spinach and ricotta dumplings or gnocchi from Emilia in Northern Italy.
The name malfatti means ‘badly made’ because of the rustic look of the gnocchi as they vary in size and shape.
They can be served as a first course or as a light main course with bread and salad.
Another name for this type of gnocchi is ravioli gnudi, meaning ‘naked ravioli’ because they are like the ravioli filling without the pasta.
Actually Malfatti are badly made or ill-shaped, because these "gnocchi" are made of the filling for a ravioli, and therefore not enclosed and defined by the dough. Delicious nonetheless, delicate in flavor. Serve with a mixture of melted butter and Parmesan cheese, or a very light creamy tomato sauce.

Matcha Is an Antioxidant Powerhouse . . .

Matcha Is an Antioxidant Powerhouse . . .
Matcha, also maccha, refers to finely-milled or fine powder green tea.
What is matcha?
Matcha tea is a variety of green tea with a very high polyphenol content. Polyphenols are thought to provide the antioxidant benefits of green tea.
What makes matcha tea so special?
Over a thousand years ago, matcha came to Japan as an aid to meditation practice. During long hours of sitting, monks would drink matcha to remain alert yet calm. Modern science has recently confirmed the lessons of centuries of tradition.
Matcha tea is a high-quality green tea that is covered before picking to accentuate the color, then stone-ground after being picked and before being sealed into small tins.
Matcha is an ancient Japanese shade grown and stone ground green tea dating back over 800 years. Coveted for generations by Japanese samurai, royalty, and Zen Buddhist monks as a meditational drink, matcha only recently became available in North America. Fresh matcha leaves are handpicked, dried and ground by low-friction granite stone mills into an ultra fine jade green powder, and finally whisked typically with a bamboo whisk.
The result is a remarkable jade green, delicate, smooth, and lightly sweet cup of green tea, which
also contains unique catechins and amino acids.
You're probably already familiar with the marvelous health benefits of green tea. You may be less familiar with another form of green tea called matcha. Matcha is a green tea powder made from the leaves of tea trees grown in the shade and then light.
Matcha has also come to be used to flavor and dye foods such as mochi and soba noodles, green tea ice cream and a variety of wagashi (Japanese confectionery).
Matcha is a fine ground, powdered, high quality green tea and not the same as tea powder or green tea powder.
The health benefits of matcha tea exceed those of green tea because when you drink matcha you ingest the whole leaf, not just the brewed water. A cancer-fighter, a fat-burner, and much more, matcha leaves other green teas far behind.
One of the most unexpected benefits matcha drinkers experience is a boost of energy through the day.

Financier (pastry), the small french cakes . . .

Financier (pastry), the small french cakes . . .
A financier is a small French cake, often mistaken for a pastry. The financier is a light, moist teacake, similar to sponge cake, and usually contains almond flour, crushed or ground almonds,or almond flavoring.
The basis of the cake itself is beurre noisette
(brown butter), egg whites, powdered sugar and flour. Financiers are often baked in shaped molds.
Financiers are often served topped with whipped cream, berries, or other fruit, and served accompanied by ice cream or other frozen confections.
Financiers are a delectable French cake that were originally a favorite of the bankers in the Paris financial district, partly because they were baked in small tins the shape of a gold bar. It’s a small buttery, moist but chewy almond cake, often topped with fruit jam or dark chocolate squares.
There are a lot of recipes out there for making the financiers. For the most part they are pretty similar.
A bit of flour, ground almonds, brown butter and confectioners or regular sugar and egg whites. Although the proportions may vary a bit.
The French make incredible sweets. One popular French sweet is the financier, little tea-cakes so named because the 19th century pastry chef’s shop was in the financial district of Paris and the traditional cakes were shaped like gold bars.
However, financiers can be found in all kinds of shapes and flavors, including different spices, fruit or nuts.
They are crunchy on the outside and soft and buttery on the inside.

But in 1844, American physician, John Gorrie, built a refrigerator to make ice to cool the air for his yellow fever patients. Some historians think that Doctor Gorrie may have also invented the first ice cube tray since it was documented that his patients were also receiving iced drinks.
Today, refrigerators come with a variety of ice cube making options that go beyond trays. There are internal automatic ice makers and ice makers and dispensers built into refrigerator doors. Now there are Alphabet Ice Cube Trays, Bone shaped Ice Cube Trays, Golf Ball Ice Cube Trays, Titanic Ice Cube Trays,

Kuttu ka Atta is flour derived from Buckwheat.

Kuttu ka Atta is flour derived from Buckwheat.
Kuttu ka atta.
On Hindu fasting days (Navaratri mainly, also Maha Shivaratri), northern states of India eat items made of buckwheat flour, because, unlike wheat or rice, buckwheat is not a cereal, and thus deemed acceptable. Cereals are not generally eaten during Hindu fasts. Rules of the fast are left for the individuals to decide; some people do not drink water during their fast (nirjal upwaas), while some just give up cereals and salt. The preparation varies across India. The famous ones are kuttu ki puri and kuttu pakoras. In most of northern and western states, they call this kuttu ka atta. In Punjab, it is called okhla, too, and is extensively used in flour form.
The famous Indian recipes made with ‘kuttu ka atta’ are kuttu ka halwa (a type of dessert), kuttu ki puri (a flatbread variety) and pakoris (a snack).
It was discovered around 9000 BC that wheat seeds could be crushed between simple millstones to make flour. The Romans were the first to grind seeds on cone mills.

Everyone enjoys eating fruits especially during fasting.
Fruits are so versatile and there is so much you can do
with them, enjoy them raw, made into a chaat or along
with fresh cream.

why Americans use the word entree to refer to the main course of a dinner, while in French and in British usage, entrée refers to a dish served before the main course.
Entrée comes from a word meaning “entrance.”
In 1555, when entrée was first used to refer to the first course of a French meal. By the 1650s, the French entrée was a hot meat dish served after the soup. The word continued to have this meaning until after 1921, when it came to have its present French meaning of “a light first course.”
An entrée is a dish served before the main course, or between two principal courses of a meal.
The term entrée is rarely used for an hors d'oeuvre, also called a first course, appetizer, or starter.
The word "entree" can be confusing because it's one of those words that means the precise opposite in some parts of the world of what it means in other parts. In the United States, the word entree is often used to signify the part of a meal that you would think of as the main course. In other parts of the world, however, it is not uncommon to hear the word entree used to indicate an appetizer, first course or starter. Words change their meanings over time.
