Fenugreek (also known as Greek Hay and Fenigreek), is an herb that is commonly found growing in the Mediterranean region of the world.
Fenugreek seeds (Hindi name: dana methi) are hard and

yellowish brown. Methi has grown wild in India, the Mediterranean and North Africa. Fenugreek seeds are cuboid-shaped, yellow-to-amber colored.
While the seeds and leaves are primarily used as a culinary spice, it is also used to treat a variety of health problems in Egypt, Greece, Italy, and South Asia.
Fenugreek seeds are popular spices widely used for their well recognized for culinary as well as for medicinal properties.
Fenugreek seeds have been found to contain protein, vitamin C, niacin, potassium. Fenugreek seeds are rich source of minerals, vitamins, and phytonutrients.
The seeds are very good source of soluble dietary fiber.
Culinary uses include pickles, curry spices, chutneys, young salad greens, pot herb. The seeds are used in the preparation of pickles, vegetable dishes, daals, and spice mixes, such as panch phoron and sambar powder. Fenugreek seeds are used both whole and in powdered form and are often roasted to reduce their bitterness and enhance their flavor.
The seeds should be added in small quantities in food because they have strong aroma and bitter taste.
Choose seeds that are bright golden-yellow color.
Store whole seeds in airtight glass container.
