#### WHAT IS A ‘SAUCE’ ###

 WHAT IS A ‘SAUCE’ : any preparation, liquid or semiliquid, eaten as a gravy or as a relish accompanying food. It could also be stewed fruit, often puréed and served as an accompaniment to meat, dessert, or other food, like the cranberry sauce. A sauce adds  ‘piquance’ or zest to the food.


Mustard sauce is a sauce that is prepared from mustard thinned with vinegar and vegetable oil with sugar and seasonings.

"Tomato sauce" means a tomato concentrate with salt, herbs and small amounts of spices.
Tomato sauce is made from a puree of tomatoes (or strained tomatoes) with savory vegetables and other seasonings.

Oyster sauce is a rich sauce made from boiled oysters and seasonings, oyster sauce does not have a fishy taste at all 
(boiling the oysters takes care of that). This rich sauce with a savory flavor is used in meat and vegetable dishes, and is an important ingredient in Cantonese cooking.
It is a rich ‘viscid’ sauce made from oysters and brine, used
in Chinese cooking.

Worcestershire sauce is a fermented liquid condiment with flavouring. This sauce is pronounced ‘ wust-ter-shire’. The sweet, tangy, salty taste of Worcestershire sauce makes it a distinctive sauce. This sauce is used with grilled or barbecued meats. It is also  used in cocktails and drinks.

Chilly sauce is made from tomatoes and onions and peppers (sweet or hot) simmered with vinegar and sugar and various seasonings. 
Soy sauce is produced by fermenting the ‘soybeans’. Soy sauce is salty, earthy, brownish liquids intended to season food while cooking or on  the table.  There are over twenty types of soy sauce to grace your table and enhance the taste of your food.
Soy sauce takes a bow as a main ingredient in cooking....
