What is Melba Sauce?

What is Melba Sauce?
Melba Sauce is a combination of pureed and strained fresh black and red raspberries. This sauce has a wonderful raspberry flavor and a rich, dark color.
It is pureed and strained fresh raspberries, red currant jelly, sugar and cornstarch. It's used to adorn the dessert peach Melba but can also top ice creams, fruits, pound cakes and puddings.
This can be used as toppings with ice cream, and to garnish gourmet desserts like Black Forest Cake or poached pears.Serve the sauce as Peach Melba or top it on ice cream or fruit or use to flavor milk shakes and sodas. The sauce is sweet and fruity in taste. The Melba sauce will be thick and have a strong berry flavor that is the perfect accompaniment for many different desserts. It may also be served with ice cream, mousses, sweet pies and tarts, or pancakes/crepes.
